MBA Entrance Exam News

NMAT Registration Extended to October 25; XAT 2027 Edit Window Opens October 16

Two time-sensitive MBA entrance updates are live. GMAC's official NMAT page now lists October 25, 2026 as the closing date for both registration and exam scheduling. The official XAT 2027 website says its application edit window will be open on October 16 and 17 for candidates who have submitted their forms. NMAT candidates should register and book a slot early, while XAT applicants should review their dashboard and correct only the fields the portal permits.

MBA applicants have two fresh deadlines to act on this week. The NMAT by GMAC calendar has moved its registration and scheduling end dates to Sunday, October 25, giving candidates additional time to enter the 2026 testing cycle and reserve an available appointment.

Separately, XLRI's XAT website has announced a short application review and correction window for October 16 and 17. Candidates who have already submitted a XAT 2027 application can use the dashboard to review details and make permitted corrections.

Latest MBA entrance exam updates at a glance

Both updates come from the respective exam owners' official websites. The dates should be read in context: the NMAT change affects registration and scheduling, while the XAT announcement concerns review and correction of an already submitted application.

Neither update removes the need to apply separately to business schools. Exam registration creates an exam record; participating institutes can still require their own admission forms, fees and deadlines.

NMAT 2026 registration and scheduling now close October 25

The live NMAT Important Dates and Fees page lists Sunday, October 25 as the end date for both registration and scheduling. This is important because completing the registration form is not the same as reserving an exam appointment. A candidate should finish payment and then use the dashboard to select an available date, time and test location or permitted test mode.

Slots are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Waiting until the closing day can reduce the choice of dates and centres even when the portal remains open. Candidates should therefore treat October 25 as the final limit, not the preferred day to act.

The official testing window remains November 2 to December 20, 2026. Rescheduling remains available until December 17 under the published calendar, subject to rules, fees and appointment availability.

What an NMAT candidate should do now

Start from the NMAT page on mba.com and use the candidate dashboard linked there. Complete the profile with accurate identity and academic information, upload the required photograph, select score-report preferences, pay through the authenticated flow and verify that registration is confirmed.

After payment, use the Book Exam option to schedule the appointment. The dashboard displays available slots in real time, so another candidate may reserve a preferred slot while you are deciding. Save the confirmation email and download the admit card when it becomes available.

Candidates requesting testing accommodations should not assume that the deadline extension eliminates review time. GMAC says accommodation requests can take time to assess, and payment or scheduling may depend on approval. Submit supporting documents as early as possible.

  • Open mba.com/exams/nmat directly.
  • Complete registration and payment before October 25.
  • Schedule the exam instead of stopping after registration.
  • Check the selected date, mode and location carefully.
  • Save the appointment confirmation and payment record.
  • Apply separately to every target business school that requires its own form.

NMAT fees and attempt rules to remember

The official fee page currently lists the initial test registration at Rs. 3,000 plus applicable taxes. A retake is also listed at Rs. 3,000 plus taxes, rescheduling at Rs. 1,200 plus taxes, and additional score reports beyond the first five at Rs. 400 each plus taxes.

NMAT permits up to three attempts in a testing year, including the first attempt and up to two retakes, with the applicable gap and scheduling rules. Registering late can make a multi-attempt plan harder because the testing window still closes on December 20.

Business schools decide how they treat multiple NMAT scores. A candidate should check each target institute's official admission policy rather than assuming every school automatically accepts the best attempt.

NMAT registration does not complete business-school applications

GMAC explicitly separates the exam process from school admissions. Sending an NMAT score to an institute does not necessarily create a complete MBA application. A school may require a separate account, programme selection, essay or statement, document upload and admission fee.

Build a second deadline list for NMIMS and every other target institution. Record the programme, official application link, closing date, accepted NMAT attempt policy and document status. This avoids the costly situation in which the exam is booked but the college form is missed.

XAT 2027 application edit window: October 16 and 17

The XAT 2027 homepage says the application edit window will be available on October 16 and 17. Candidates who have submitted an application can log in to the dashboard, review the form and make corrections that the system permits.

The announcement should not be interpreted as permission to replace every field. XAT warns applicants before registration that the email address and mobile number must be correct because those details cannot be changed after registration. The dashboard should be treated as the definitive guide to which submitted fields are editable.

Candidates who want the correction opportunity should complete their XAT application before October 16, according to the message displayed on the official homepage. The regular XAT 2027 registration closing date remains December 6, but a later applicant should not assume that another edit window will be offered.

What to review in the XAT application

Open the submitted form beside the supporting documents used to complete it. Check the spelling and order of the name, date of birth, gender, category, academic marks, graduation status, work-experience entries, test-city choices, programme selections, uploaded photograph and signature.

Only change a field when the existing entry is genuinely incorrect and the portal allows the correction. Do not alter category or academic information simply to improve perceived admission chances; the details must remain supported by valid documents.

After saving changes, reopen the form and confirm that the corrected information appears in the final view. Download the revised application or acknowledgement if the portal provides one. A screenshot of an edit screen is weaker evidence than the final submitted record.

  • Sign in through xatonline.in, not an unverified correction link.
  • Compare entries with official identity and academic documents.
  • Check programme and test-city selections carefully.
  • Use only fields enabled by the official dashboard.
  • Submit and verify the final form before the window closes.
  • Keep the revised application and payment confirmation.

XAT fields that require extra caution

Email and mobile details deserve particular attention because the XAT website says they cannot be changed after registration. If either detail is wrong or inaccessible, use the official XLRI admissions contact information rather than creating duplicate accounts without guidance.

Category claims should match the documents required by the institutions to which the candidate applies. Academic percentages should follow the conversion rules of the relevant university and the instructions in the form. When the portal does not allow a necessary correction, contact the official helpdesk and preserve the correspondence.

Avoid people who offer paid back-end correction, guaranteed XLRI admission or management-quota access. The official XAT site warns candidates about misinformation and fraudulent admission offers.

A practical two-day action plan

On October 15, NMAT candidates should complete registration and explore available slots, while XAT candidates should assemble the submitted form and supporting documents. This preparation makes the short XAT window a review exercise instead of a hurried search for records.

On October 16, XAT applicants can log in early, make permitted corrections and download the revised record. NMAT applicants should finish payment and scheduling well before October 25. Both groups should update a single admissions tracker with exam and college deadlines.

Do not allow form work to consume the entire preparation day. Reserve one focused administrative block, verify completion, and return to CAT, NMAT or XAT study. Accurate applications matter, but repeated checking after a confirmed submission usually adds anxiety rather than value.

Official sources and verification note

This update was verified on October 15, 2026 against the live NMAT by GMAC Important Dates and Fees page and the official XAT 2027 homepage. The NMAT page lists October 25 for registration and scheduling. The XAT page lists October 16 and 17 for the application edit window.

Exam owners can revise dates or portal instructions. Candidates should rely on the live dashboard for their individual status and recheck the official pages before payment, scheduling or form correction.
