NMAT 2026 Registration Extended to October 31: Official Deadline, Scheduling and Exam Dates

The official NMAT by GMAC website now lists October 31, 2026 as the closing date for both initial registration and first-attempt scheduling. This supersedes the earlier October 25 date. Exam delivery remains scheduled from November 2 to December 20, while retake registration and scheduling run from November 3 to December 17. Candidates should complete payment and book a slot separately before October 31 because registration alone does not reserve an exam appointment.

GMAC has extended the NMAT 2026 registration and scheduling deadline to October 31, 2026. The revised date appears on the official NMAT landing page and its Important Dates and Fees page.

This is a meaningful update for candidates who missed the earlier October 25 cutoff. The extension covers initial registration and initial scheduling, but the two are separate actions. A completed application does not automatically create an exam appointment.

What is the latest NMAT 2026 registration update?

The official NMAT by GMAC pages now show Saturday, October 31, 2026 as the end date for registration and scheduling. Both processes opened on August 20.

The previous official date was October 25. Candidates should therefore rely on the revised October 31 date displayed on mba.com rather than older articles, screenshots or social posts.

The exam-delivery window has not shifted with this update. It begins on November 2 and continues through December 20, 2026. Available test dates, times and centres are subject to live seat availability.

What exactly has been extended?

The revised date applies to initial NMAT registration and first-attempt scheduling. Registration means creating or using an mba.com account, completing the NMAT application, selecting score-report recipients, uploading the required photograph and paying the fee.

Scheduling is the separate step in which a registered candidate chooses the examination mode, appointment date, time and location through the candidate dashboard. The official site advises candidates to book early because slots are limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

The extension does not mean every centre will have seats through October 31. Waiting until the final day can reduce the choice of dates, times or test centres.

How to complete NMAT 2026 registration before October 31

Start through the official NMAT page on mba.com. New users need an account with a valid email address, while returning users should use the appropriate existing credentials rather than creating duplicate registrations.

Complete the profile and application carefully. The official guide says the candidate's name and date of birth must match the photo identity document. Select the schools that should receive the score, upload a recent photograph and make the test-fee payment.

After payment, confirm that the dashboard shows a successful application. Preserve the confirmation and payment record. If the status is unclear, use the official NMAT support channels rather than relying on a third party.

  • Open the NMAT page only on mba.com.
  • Create or access the correct candidate account.
  • Verify the email address and complete the profile.
  • Enter identity details exactly as shown on the accepted ID.
  • Choose score-report recipients carefully.
  • Upload a recent compliant photograph.
  • Pay the registration fee and confirm the successful status.
  • Proceed immediately to the Book Exam Slot step.

Why scheduling must also be completed by October 31

Registration and scheduling are not interchangeable. Payment makes the candidate eligible to book an appointment, but the test date and centre are confirmed only after the scheduling process is completed.

From the candidate dashboard, use the Book Exam Slot option. Choose the available mode, location, date and time, then complete the scheduler steps. The official guide states that the admit card becomes available seven days before the scheduled examination.

Candidates should check the confirmation email and dashboard after booking. The appointment information on the admit card, including date, time and venue, should be reviewed well before travel.

What are the official NMAT 2026 fees?

The official Important Dates and Fees page lists the test registration fee as INR 3,000 plus applicable taxes. A retake also costs INR 3,000 plus taxes.

Five school score reports are included with registration. Additional score reports are listed at INR 400 each plus applicable taxes. Rescheduling is listed at INR 1,200 plus taxes.

Candidates should verify the amount shown in the official payment flow before paying. Test registration and individual business-school applications are separate, so target institutions may charge their own application fees.

NMAT 2026 exam structure at a glance

NMAT is a computer-adaptive examination with three individually timed sections: Language Skills, Quantitative Skills and Logical Reasoning. The official exam overview lists 108 questions to be completed in 120 minutes.

Candidates choose the order of the three sections before beginning. Questions appear one at a time, and the official FAQ says candidates cannot return to review earlier questions. Unused time from one section is not transferred to another section.

This structure rewards steady decision-making. Candidates should practise answering within each section's fixed time instead of depending on a final review round.

SectionQuestionsTimeScaled-score range
Language Skills3628 minutes12-120
Quantitative Skills3652 minutes12-120
Logical Reasoning3640 minutes12-120
Total108120 minutes36-360

What should candidates do after booking the exam?

Build preparation around the confirmed appointment rather than an assumed date. Download the admit card when it becomes available, read the current identification requirements and check the test-centre route or online-proctored system requirements as applicable.

Use the remaining preparation time for the NMAT format. The official prep page offers two free practice exams using the same 108-question structure, with additional paid official practice exams available.

Because questions cannot be reviewed, practise making a controlled decision and moving forward. Section order should be tested in advance; choose it based on performance and mental rhythm, not on a last-minute preference.

  • Save the appointment confirmation and payment receipt.
  • Download the admit card seven days before the appointment.
  • Review the current official ID and exam-day rules.
  • Take at least one full-length NMAT-format practice test.
  • Test the preferred section order before exam day.
  • Check separate application deadlines for target business schools.

How do NMAT 2026 retakes work?

The official scheduling guide says a candidate may take NMAT up to three times in a testing cycle, including the first attempt and up to two retakes. A retake appointment must follow the current waiting-period and eligibility rules.

Retake payment and scheduling become available after the previous attempt. When a valid score is shown, the official guide says the candidate may book the next attempt, but the examination date must be at least seven days later.

Candidates should not treat retakes as a substitute for preparation. The December 17 retake-registration and scheduling closing date, the December 20 exam-delivery end date and seat availability together constrain the options.

NMAT registration is separate from business-school applications

The official NMAT page explicitly warns that registering for the exam does not apply a candidate to every business school. Each institution can have its own eligibility criteria, programme form, fee and closing date.

Create a separate tracker for target schools. Record whether the programme accepts NMAT, the applicable admission year, minimum academic eligibility, programme application deadline and any interview or profile requirements.

Do not assume that an NMAT score alone guarantees admission. Institutions decide their own shortlisting and selection processes.

What to do if you are applying close to the deadline

Do not wait for October 31 if the application can be completed earlier. Identity mismatches, photograph rejection, payment failure or limited slots can take time to resolve.

Use a stable connection, keep the required documents available and avoid multiple registrations. After payment, continue until an exam appointment is confirmed.

If a transaction or scheduling step fails, retain screenshots and transaction details and contact official support promptly. Avoid paying through unofficial agents or sharing login credentials.
